Bentley has embarked on an exciting new creative collaboration with British fashion designer Supriya Lele, unveiling a bespoke color, Nīla Blue, exclusively available to Mulliner customers. Inspired deeply by Lele’s Indian heritage, Nīla Blue—derived from the Sanskrit word for “sapphire”—embodies a unique fusion of personal history and artisanal craftsmanship. This distinctive shade represents the harmonious intersection of high fashion and automotive luxury, emphasizing craftsmanship, innovation, and individual expression.
Lele, renowned for her sensual and meticulously crafted, body-celebrating silhouettes, frequently incorporates blue in her collections. Her affinity for the color is both personal and cultural, drawing from her Indian roots and further influenced by William Gass’s 1976 philosophical essay On Being Blue, which delves into the color’s associations with themes of sensuality, melancholy, and mystery. This bespoke hue, refined yet striking, mirrors the understated luxury and timeless elegance central to both Lele’s designs and Mulliner’s bespoke craftsmanship.
Nīla Blue finds its home on the Bentayga S, transforming the vehicle into a canvas for bold, personalized luxury. This exclusive collaboration celebrates a shared commitment to elegance and individuality, making a statement for those who appreciate innovation and artistry.
To debut Nīla Blue, Supriya Lele co-created a bespoke specification in collaboration with Mulliner designers, exploring the heights of personalization through exclusive finishes. This unique Bentayga S serves as the ideal canvas to showcase the distinctively commissioned Nīla Blue. The lower bright ware has been harmonized with the striking exterior paintwork, while a newly designed blue pinstripe adorns the 22″ sports wheels. A contrasting Mulliner White accent on the carbon fiber body kit extends into the interior, enhancing the vehicle’s refined aesthetic. Inside, bespoke features include satin black Naim audio speaker grilles and open-pore black-stained crown-cut walnut veneers, all edged in Nīla Blue—a nod to Lele’s elevated yet experimental design philosophy.
David Parker, Chief Commercial Officer at Mulliner, remarked, “The Bentley Mulliner Bespoke Studio continues to push the boundaries of what is possible. This collaboration invites customers into a world where imagination knows no limits. Nīla Blue embodies subtlety and depth, echoing both Supriya’s artistic vision and Mulliner’s dedication to crafting the finest bespoke finishes. It’s a hue that speaks to those with a discerning taste for quiet luxury.”
This exclusive edition represents the bold elegance and innovative fabrication that define Lele’s work, bringing her fluid, signature silhouettes into the automotive realm.
