After a $132 Million dollar upgrade, this luxury liner has a new contemporary interior design, many of which found inspiration in the original Queen Mary, which debuted in New York City 85 years ago. The remastering also includes elevation to the guest experiences. The Queen Mary 2 holds a unique place in the world of luxury as well as being the embodiment of the legacy of the great ocean liners of the past.
“The remastering of Queen Mary 2 continues the transatlantic tradition by the thoughtful contemporizing of the product for today’s discerning traveler, while maintaining the refined design aesthetics and service standards that are deeply based in British style and refinement. The Remastering is a testament to Cunard’s attention to detail, incorporating inspiration from our past that continues to propel the powerful Cunard story, which we think will strongly resonate with today’s travelers,” said David Noyes, CEO, of Cunard.
The timeless sophistication of traveling on a luxury liner is indelibly etched in our minds through classic old Hollywood movies and when aboard the Queen Mary 2 that lustrous allure lingers. In its 176-year history Cunard has seen seven of its Commodores knighted, an honor no other shipping company can claim. On board Queen Mary 2 today the level of expertise and tradition is not forgotten. The highly trained and attentive staff are graduates from the ship’s White Star Service Academy and they carry that distinction with pride. We were impressed with the spaciously and well-appointed new Buckingham Suite, a duplex apartment featuring sweeping living quarters and an expansive balcony downstairs, a luxurious master bedroom upstairs, two marble baths with a whirlpool tub and shower, a guest bathroom with shower, private exercise equipment and more. Other exceptional renovations include the remastering and Queens Grill and Princess Grill suites, as well as Britannia staterooms. Key public spaces and restaurants, including the transformation of the former Winter Garden into the Carinthia Lounge, the introduction of The Verandah as the ship’s new specialty restaurant, and the complete refresh and restructuring of the King’s Court, the ship’s popular buffet area have all remastered with elegant modernity. Also as the only passenger vessel to carry dogs and cats, QM2 has expanded its kennel service during this multi-million dollar renovation to 12 new kennels for a total of 24. As befitting the flagship of the Cunard fleet the Queen Mary 2 received a complete repaint of the ship exterior and significant technical enhancements and structural changes. Queen Mary 2.
