Little Beach House Malibu Soho House
Located along the Carbon Beach Oceanfront, not far from LA in Malibu, is the British private membership club Soho House, situated between Nobu and the Malibu Beach Inn. With fabulous views from its terraces of the Malibu Pier, and the legendary First Point surf break beyond it, this contemporary structure is now the new chill spot for the lucky few with a membership.
Officially known as The Little Beach House Malibu, the 10,000-square-foot property, leased from the Mani Brothers real estate firm whose assets also include the office tower where Soho House’s West Hollywood penthouse club is located, includes 200 feet of beach frontage. Residential neighbors along Carbon Beach, which is nicknamed Billionaire’s Beach, include Ellison, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Eli Broad, Haim Saban, Arnon Milchan and Leslie Moonves.
Important to note just because you’re an existing Soho House member to one of their worldwide locations, that doesn’t guarantee you access to Soho House’s The Little Beach House Malibu. There is a new process for current members who want access, you must first “prove the legitimacy of their connection to Malibu” and even then there is no guarantee of acceptance. At the Little Beach House Malibu much of the activity centers on the wrap-around terrace, which juts right up First Point Break and over a stretch of sandy shoreline. The space itself is quintessential California, with a minimalist palette, teak wood, indoor/outdoor fireplaces, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a large and impressive gallery wall featuring a mix of contemporary artwork.
There’s often a DJ playing a set, or live music, and on the weekends, many gather for their weekend “Feast”—a prix-fixe brunch served from 10am-4: 30pm where everything from an omelet and carving stations to Belgian waffles and some pretty-hard-to-resist red velvet cake are relished with delight. The all-day menu utilizes local produce and includes standouts like the shareable cauliflower in black garlic vinaigrette and the avocado dip, which is served with taro chips and crudités.
