BMW Concept Skytop

Exceptionally Elegant

Against the stunning backdrop of Lake Como during this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, the rain clouds gave us a break, revealing the striking beauty of the BMW Concept Skytop just in time. This car is a feast for the eyes, with its sleek lines and muscular curves drawing your attention right to the back. And forget about regular door handles – this baby has discreet winglets seamlessly integrated into the door shoulders. Plus, those light alloy wheels with their precise lamellas? They add to the cool factor. It’s a sensory treat that’s hard to resist.

The BMW Concept Skytop is a truly unique and exotic design, in the tradition of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este,” says Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW Group Design. “It offers a combination of driving dynamics and elegance at the highest level, comparable to its historic ancestors, like the BMW Z8 or BMW 503.”

BMW’s out-of-the-box thinking inspired the design team to craft headlights that seamlessly merge intricate details into the overarching concept. The sleek and minimalist design approach facilitates the integration of all lighting functions within a unified installation space. The flat, well-defined shape of the rear lights perfectly complements the overall aesthetic of the BMW Concept Skytop. Adding to its allure, a leather-finished roll-over bar adorns the space behind the car’s two seats, accompanied by side fins on the B-pillar and a fully retractable rear window. Moreover, the two removable roof sections, also featuring leather finishes, can conveniently be stored in a dedicated compartment within the luggage space.

A New Legendary Roadster

Designed To  Inspire A Desire To Travel

Inside, the focal point is the luxurious leather seats adorned with brogue-style accents. The reddish-brown hue of the surfaces establishes a cohesive color palette, imparting an air of opulence and spaciousness throughout the interior. Crystal applications tastefully embedded in the cockpit further elevate the overall aesthetic. The BMW Concept Skytop, an open two-seater, transcends mere automotive design to embody a sculptural masterpiece, characterized by a flowing, sporty elegance that perfectly complements its robust stance. The interior and exterior of this concept car boast warm, monochromatic tones, seamlessly blending exclusive materials with traditional craftsmanship. As for its production prospects, the outlook appears promising, with strong indications pointing towards a realization of this visionary vehicle.
